Hartlepool United Reserves bounced back from last week’s defeat to Gateshead with a 2-0 win over Scunthorpe this afternoon.

Pools named Neil Austin in their starting line-up as he continues his recovery from injury, the right back played an hour of the game at Bedford Terrace.

Pools took the lead in the run up to half time when Colin Larkin set up Denis Behan to grab the opening goal of the match.

The lead was doubled just moments later when Larkin’s crossed for Billy Blackford, his effort towards goal was finished off by Michael Mackay to give Pools a comfortable lead going into the break.

Pools created plenty of chances throughout the game with Behan, Peter Hartley and Jon-Andre Fredriksen all going close. Barron criticised his players after a limp performance last week, he’s sure to be more happy with this game.
