Article suggestion from bert lynch – this is looking back to a miserable weekend for Hartlepool when Pools were thumped 5-0 by Cambridge at Victoria Park on Saturday.

The (latest heavy) defeat was made worse by the fact the second half is when we witnessed the capitulation and all five goals scored.

Surrounded by Cambridge fans is hardly ideal either is it! I’ll hand you over to Bert to explain more.

On Saturday when Pools played Cambridge I was working in London and then travelling to relatives near Newmarket for the night, before work on Sunday in Diss.

I left London at the score 0-0 but by the time I was 30 minutes away we were 5 down and my phone was buzzing. I arrived at the Cambridge United season ticket holder’s home to little sympathy and went to the pub to drown my sorrows….

Bad idea as it was full of Cambridge fans in a very happy mood having fun at my expense. Like Mr Stelling’s Christmas meal my night was also spoilt.

It’s all about timing, nice easy game at Portsmouth next on Saturday to sort it all out.

You Pools.
