Former Hartlepool United goalkeeper Arran Lee-Barrett has joined Ipswich Town on a short-term contract.

Much criticised by Pools fans, Lee-Barrett was released by Pools in the summer after conceding 81 goals in 46 games last season.

He had trials at Norwich and Yeovil over the summer but neither club opted to sign the former Weymouth man.

He goes straight into the squad for Town’s game at West Brom this Saturday and he was delighted to join manager Roy Keane at Portman Road.

”It’s a fantastic opportunity for me and I’m grateful to the manager for the chance. The challenge for me now is to try and impress him and win a longer contract.” he told the Ipswich official site.

A good move for him… Even if he’s released he’ll get more options out of this.

He might get more options but he’ll still be a crap keeper.

Not quite sure how he’ll get more options out of this. If he’s released after the transfer window closes, won’t that mean that he’s out of work until January?

Don’t think so – I believe clubs can sign players who are free agents at any point before the March deadline. Very surprised at this though – has Roy Keane actually seen Arran play?!

  • PooliePoolie says:

I don’t think Keane watches anyone before he signs them, he just goes out and buys anyone and everyone he can.

he has only been signed to cover at last minute, he is an ispwich lad and is only on a short contract, keane must have other targets at a later date
