Hartlepool United defender Ben Clark has been ruled out for six weeks after being told his groin injury requires an operation.

Clark had just recovered from a hernia injury sustained in pre-season when he pulled his groin in the warm-up for the game with Oldham.

Physio James Haycock admitted that Clark had been unlucky to pick up two successive injuries ”Things haven’t gone as we hoped with Ben and, although it was improving, the right decision is to go ahead with the operation.

”It’s a slightly different injury in that this is an acute tear to the deep groin muscle on the other side from his hernia and it’s obviously very disappointing for Ben and the Club.”
