Hartlepool United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Lewis Alessandra in the four nil victory over Crewe Alexandra in midweek was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Alessandra was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Hartlepool put some distance between themselves and the bottom two with an emphatic home win against fellow strugglers Crewe Alexandra. Alessandra hit two for Pools in the 4-0 rout, which brought an end to their six-game winless run.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Alessandra for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Karl Darlow (Newcastle United), Will Nightingale (Wimbledon), Charlie Mulgrew (Blackburn Rovers), Ryan Edwards (Morecambe), Tom Pett (Stevenage), Louis Dodds (Shrewsbury Town), Callum Styles (Bury), Carl Winchester (Cheltenham Town), Ricky Holmes (Charlton Athletic), Adebayo Akinfenwa (Wycombe Wanderers), Lewis Alessandra (Hartlepool United).

Manager – Kevin Nolan (Notts County).
