A Bit More Confidence And Belief

Dropping into the basement league of English football (as Hartlepool did at the end of last season) was tough enough, the start made to life in league two was arguably even worse!

In the open six games to the season, and to the spell as Pools boss by Colin Cooper, resulted in four defeats.

This changed on Saturday when an important, even at this stage, 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Accrington was secured.

Cooper, who will need to be keeping on his luck socks, hopes that this win can inject the confidence needed to continue this against Bristol Rovers this weekend.

Cooper told BBC Tees: ‘We’ve got that first win, we scored two good goals.

‘Hopefully we go to Bristol Rovers next week with a bit more confidence and belief and see what we can do.’

Bristol Rovers will be a different proposition to Accrington, and Cooper will have to get his side firing on all cylinders but sometimes a bit of “gritty determination” is what is needed.

Hartlepool showed this and having seen that in the win over Accrington is that the moment to get the season going?
