An Adam Boyd hat-trick helped Hartlepool United Reserves to their first win of the season as they hammered Grimsby 5-0 last night.

Colin Larkin opened the scoring on 18 minutes with a sweet strike and the lead was doubled when Adam Boyd curled past Leigh Overton before the break.

Boyd grabbed his second with a header at the start of the second half before completing his hat-trick with a cool shot past the visiting keeper. Triallist Reece Jones added a fifth with a sensational long range strike to give Pools a convincing victory.
