At last the monkeys off our away back. It was a dire game, the first half was awful and both sides struggled to keep the ball, shoot at the goal or shoot at all. Second half with Pools playing towards the 101 fans, we came out strong and worked the ball much better.

The goal came and we all went mad with joy as it was always going to be tight. Then a sending off, the first on target shot straight at the keeper by Cambridge and jeers from the Cambs fans. The referee gave five minutes extra time, we had a couple of chances to score again and the final whistle went.

A poor football match but a great result. The effort by the players was fantastic and deserved the standing ovation they got with it a better visit for me to Cambridge after the 5-0 defeat earlier in the season and should teach the Cambridge papers a lesson on forecasting results.

You Pools.
